Bay Minette is the county seat of North Baldwin County - but the original county seat was McIntosh Bluff, which was later redistricted and made a part of Mobile County. The county seat was transferred to the town of Blakely in 1810 and again to the city of Daphne in 1868. In the year 1900, the county authorized moving the seat to Bay Minette. Daphne refused to comply, and Bay Minette citizens took action: In October of 1901, they moved the county records in the middle of the night to Bay Minette, where the county seat remains to this day.
Bay Minette is home to Bay Minette Aviation, a fixed-based operator that serves as the local airport. Bay Minette Aviation is famous for its all-female flight line staff and free meals.
