Greenbrier is a city in Faulkner County and is 22 minutes away from the city of Conway. • Settlers initially arrived in Greenbrier in 1818. The first known pioneers in the area were four brothers who set up camp four miles north of the current town center. 
• At first the town was named Mooresville after Henderson Moore, one of the more notable settlers in the region. It was changed to Greenbrier in 1857 after the development of the first post office. Moore was named as the first postmaster. Apparently the new town name was suggested by someone who was camping in Greenbrier who was bothered by the number of saw briers in the area, a green plant that grew along the local creek. Greenbrier is a more common term for this type of flora.
