Divide CO Real Estate & Area Information
Located just 25 miles northwest of Colorado Springs in a cove of Pikes Peak National Forest is the city of Divide. The 4,000 citizens of Divide take pride in their rural community and have taken strides to protect the city from too much development. Originally called Hayden’s Divide, early settlers in the late 19th century shortened the city’s name to Divide.
Divide lies mere minutes from two of the region’s most captivating attractions: Mueller State Park and Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument. Mueller is a 5,000-acre area featuring 50 miles of trails for hiking, biking, walking, hunting and wildlife-watching. Some of the species found there include elk, black bear, hawks and mule deer. Additionally, more than 100 campsites are available at the park, and 16 of those remain available in the winter. If you prefer looking at older plants and animals, drive a little further west from Divide to Florissant Fossil Beds. The monument features one of the richest fossil deposits in the world, with more than 1,700 identified species. In addition to showcasing dinosaurs, prehistoric reptiles and fish and ancient plants, Florissant also details the history of native tribes that have lived in the area and pioneers who traveled through it. Other popular destinations in Divide include the Midland Depot, an original stop on the Colorado Midland Railway and one of only three left today, and The Smokin’ Q, the locals’ favorite barbeque restaurant.
With a reasonable cost of living and a focus on families, houses for rent in Divide are ideal for any new or growing family. You may want to look for Divide rental homes in the Spring Valley area.
