Alpharetta is a suburb of Atlanta, located about 25 miles north of the city. The city of about 60,000 people has experienced significant growth over the last several decades, including the creation of almost 70,000 jobs in the last five years. Alpharetta used to be seat of Milton County, which was adjacent to Atlanta’s Fulton County. But Milton joined with Fulton to avoid bankruptcy during The Great Depression, and Alpharetta has since served as a hub of northern Fulton. The town currently holds offices for Hewlett-Packard, UPS, RedPrarie, Radiant Systems, IBM, AT&T, Verizon and General Electric, among others. Altogether, Alpharetta houses more than 3,600 businesses, many of which are located in popular North Pointe Mall.
