Kennesaw Georgia
Kennesaw is a suburb of Atlanta with more than 30,000 residents. The city is located about 30 miles northwest of Atlanta and was a primary spot on General Sherman’s March to the Sea. Kennesaw’s original name was Big Shanty, and during the Civil War, Big Shanty was the site of the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain. It later served as a supply headquarters after it fell to Sherman. The battle is now commemorated through Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park. In addition to viewing the history of the battle, visitors can experience the mountain itself, which is the highest point in the Atlanta area. Kennesaw, which gained its current name and was incorporated in 1887, further acknowledges its history through the Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History.
Today, Kennesaw has been designated as one of the premier places to grow and live in the U.S. In 2004, it was deemed a “Preserve America Community,” and in 2007, Family Circle recognized it as one of the 10 Best Towns for Families. In addition to offering an up-close look at history, Kennesaw holds numerous entertainment venues. Smith-Gilbert Gardens has 13 acres of donated land with wide varieties of plant and animal life. Lake Allatoona and Lake Acworth are mere miles away, and every shopper can get his or her fill in Town Center Mall. Plus, all of Atlanta’s attractions are within a half hour’s drive.
With a low crime rate, well-respected schools and a cost of living lower than the national average, houses for rent in Kennesaw are ideal for anyone looking to relocate. Plenty of Kennesaw rental homes surround the Town Center area, and the location offers access to the mall’s 220 stores. Other popular neighborhoods for homes for rent in Kennesaw include Arlington Point and Kennesborough Square, both of which are just off of Cobb Parkway, and Arden lake Swim and Tennis Community, which is located between I-75 and I-575. Additionally, numerous Kennesaw apartments are available near Kennesaw State University.
