Fun Facts for Future Renters
Byram has officially become a town two times. The first was in 1870 in response to the community's growth, but during the Great Depression, economic hard times prohibited the town's government from functioning properly: It was therefore disbanded. After nearly becoming a neighborhood of Jackson, Byram reincorporated as its own town in 2009.
Byram is named after A.M. Byram, who donated a large tract of land to start the community.
One of the town's landmarks is the Swinging Bridge. A classic Southern-styled bridge, the Swinging Bridge used to be the only way for people and vehicles to cross Pearl River. Now, the bridge is a historical spot open to foot traffic and tourists.
