• Graford sits between the towns of Graham and Weatherford. Its name is a combination of the two names. The town was founded in 1854 after George Bevers examined a homestead at Flat Rock Crossing near Big Keechi Creek, which was three miles from where the town is currently located. In 1855, he constructed a home between Fort Belknap and Weatherford that became a pit stop for visitors.
• The town's first business was owned by Ansell Russell and Willis Mills located on Fort Worth-Fort Belknap Road.
• By 1894, the town named their first postmaster. By 1920, the community had a population of 313 people. Twenty years later, it had a population of 804 and a bank.
• Graford is located approximately 12 miles from Possum Kingdom Lake. The lake is a reservoir on the well-known and far-reaching Brazos River and is also a popular recreation destination for visitors and townspeople. Some of the more popular activities people participate in on the lake include boating and fishing.
