The 16th largest city in Los Angeles County, South Gate, Calif., is a mere 12 miles from the Los Angeles downtown area. Also known as the Azalea City, South Gate was incorporated in 1923. Today, it boasts nine parks, 27 educational institutions and too many community organizations and service clubs to count, making its homes for rent ideal for people with children.
