Maple Heights History
Maple Heights was first settled in the early 19th century, but didn't experience its first major population expansion until several major rail lines made the city an important stop in the regional network toward the end of the 1800s. That development continued into the early part of the 20th century, as Cleveland's swelling population started branching out into the suburbs. Maple Heights was the beneficiary of much of that expansion, with hundreds of recent immigrants laying down roots in the community.
That tradition of close-knit families setting up in the city continued after World War II, when Maple Heights experienced a home-building boom that saw most of the available land given over to homes. To this day, the city is a thriving place for a diverse group of homeowners, renters and those in assisted living facilities.
