How much does this cost?
There is no cost for you to screen tenants online through Applicants pay a $30 screening fee ($20 in New York) to submit screening reports to you. You can also have applicants fill out an online rental application at no cost.
What types of payments are accepted?
Applicants may pay the screening fee using all major credit, debit, or prepaid cards.
What reports can I receive from applicants?
You can receive a completed rental application, TransUnion credit report and score, criminal background check, and 50 state eviction history report. (Eviction history report not available in New York under applicable state law.)
How do I know my applicant is who they say they are?
Each renter who starts the screening process through RentSpree must complete an identity verification process before he or she is allowed to submit.
Can I receive reports at nights and on weekends?
Yes. Applicants can apply and you may retrieve screening reports instantly on nights and weekends.
How does tenant screening work?
There are three options to screen tenants:
1) You can enable an “Apply Now” button on your listing by including applications and screening to your listing. This will allow applicants to apply from your listing page. Applicants who click the button can fill out their information and submit their completed rental application, credit report, background check, and eviction report (where available) to you.
2) You can screen any tenants directly by sending them an invitation to apply from the “Tenant Screening” section of your dashboard.
3) You can copy your unique screening link and share it with any applicants via SMS or email.
You will receive an email notification for all applicants who apply and you can view, print, or save any reports you receive.
How do I enable tenant screening for my property?
Right after you successfully add a listing, you will be given the opportunity to enable online rental applications and/or tenant screening reports for the property.
Do I need to screen a tenant ahead of time?
No, you can screen a tenant at any time from your dashboard by visiting the “Tenant Screening” menu.
What is RentSpree?
RentSpree is an online rental application and tenant screening service that streamlines the rental process. has partnered with RentSpree to provide an instant process to apply online to landlords and listings. How long are reports available for?
Reports are available for 30 days after they after first accessed. You can print or save reports at any time before 30 days.
Why should I screen tenants on
We make it easier than ever for applicants to apply using any internet enabled device. Once an applicant submits, all screening reports will be available to you instantly, allowing you to make an informed decision faster. You will no longer need to collect money or pay out of pocket for screening. Applicants pay a screening fee directly to RentSpree when they apply.
What is the turnaround time to receive reports back?
Once an applicant submits, all screening reports (including credit, criminal, and eviction report (where available)) will be available to you within seconds. Please note that you will receive an email notification for each successful submission and that you may need to follow up with applicants to complete the submission process.

How do I apply for a property?
You can apply online either by clicking the “Apply Now” button on a listing or by clicking a link you receive in an application invitation from a landlord. From there you can fill out your information and submit.
How much does this cost?
We charge a $30 screening fee ($20 in New York*) to submit a full screening package.

We accept credit, debit, and prepaid cards. Payment is collected at the time of submission.
My landlord’s listing isn’t on Can I still apply through
Yes, you can still apply. You just need to let your landlord know to send you a request from the platform. Landlords can contact us at +1 (866) 730-7177 to learn how.
What is your refund policy?
Due to the competitive nature of rental housing, there are no refunds issued for submitted and reviewed applications, regardless of rental/leasing decisions.

Do I get a copy of my reports after I submit?
Yes, you will receive a copy of any reports after they are accessed by the landlord.
Will applying damage my credit score?
No. You can apply with the peace of mind that your credit score will not be harmed. All credit checks are done using a soft credit inquiry, meaning your score will not be damaged and you will not receive an inquiry on your report.
How long does it take for the landlord to receive my reports after I apply?
All landlords will receive immediate access to your reports after you apply. Reports are available on nights and weekends as well.
When will I hear back about my application status? and RentSpree are not involved in the decision making process. Please reach out directly to the landlord for updates concerning submitted applications.
Can I apply at night and on weekends?
Yes. You can apply and submit screening reports at any time, even on nights and weekends.

Why should I apply online?
Applying online on means your reports will be instantly shared with the landlord, increasing your chances of getting selected. The credit check also will never damage your credit score, so you can apply with confidence. Your personal information is safeguarded so no one will ever come into contact with your Social Security Number. You can also submit your application to a second property without having to refill your information again.
How long is my report available for?
All screening reports are available up until 30 days after they are first accessed.
What if I have incorrect records on my report?
If there is any incorrect information on your screening reports, you can contact TransUnion at +1 (866) 775-0961 to investigate. You may also contact RentSpree at +1 (323) 212-6426 for additional questions or clarification.
What if I received an error while applying?

What if the property I’m interested in doesn’t have an “Apply Now” button?
You can always reach out to the landlord to request that he or she enable the button or send you a request to apply directly.

Is my information secure?
Yes. and RentSpree do not store your Social Security Number or make it available to any landlords. All sensitive information is encrypted.
Do I need a Social Security Number to apply?
No, you can submit screening reports to a landlord using an ITIN instead of a Social Security Number. If your landlord only requested a rental application, no number is required to submit.
