Newport Heights Apartments

Newport Heights is located on Aquidneck Island, where beautiful beaches reign and shorelines enchant. Built to replace aging public housing, Newport Heights is part of the City of Newport?s revitalization of the North End. That now thriving area includes a daycare, Community College (CCRI), a multipurpose Community Center which includes a Boys & Girls Club, MET School (Charter School), and an East Bay Community Action Health Clinic.

A diverse population has found a home in this completely reconstructed housing development, originally built in 1939 to temporarily house Navy personnel and now featuring pitched roofs, colorful wood clapboards, and lovely plantings.

We are within close proximity to Miantonomi Park and adjacent to the Big Blue Bike Barn, a part of Bike Newport. This is a space for a variety of healthy activities for the families of Newport's North End neighborhoods. It has gardens for community planting and growing and trails into Miantonomi Park. Miantonomi Park also runs biking and hiking programs and a Summer Bike Camp for local youth. Programs are provided free of charge.

Newport Heights has its own community room, however, residents also have access to it the Florence Gray Multipurpose Center located adjacent to the property. The Florence Gray Center hosts many multicultural events for the residents of the North End of Newport.

We are located near the Newport Naval Base and just minutes away from the famed ?Summer Cottages? built in the 19th century on Bellevue Avenue ? The Breakers, The Elms, Chateau-sur-Mer, Marble House, and more. There is off-street parking for its residents, and for those without a vehicle, the complex is located on the public transit line and is convenient to historic downtown Newport.
