Pasco County first was founded in 1887. The Plant System Railroad came to the area, causing a desire for settlement. A second railroad arrived in 1888, which became part of the Seaboard Railroad. During the same year, the county's first newspaper was created, known as the Pasco County Democrat.
Yellow fever ran rampant through the area and caused Pasco County to be quarantined from Tampa.
By 1889, the first post office was built. The following year, the county had flourished, with a population of 4,249 people.
In 1958, the area experienced an unexpected, large amount of snow.
