Vinton is the first town people driving from Texas to Louisiana will see, and the townspeople are proud of it. The town is located on Route 90 and Interstate 10, just southwest of Sulphur and Lake Charles. Homes for rent in Vinton give families the chance to live in a verdant, residential community with three schools in town, picturesque local businesses on Horridge Street and plenty of beautiful nature to explore. Vinton proudly calls itself the Gateway to Cajun Country.
Fun Facts for Future Renters
Vinton wasn't developed early, like many other areas in Louisiana and Texas, because the area was difficult to get to and there were disputes about the land between the Spanish and French.
The first concept of a town in present-day Vinton was developed in the late 1800s and was called Blair. It was just a stop on the train that ran from New Orleans to Port Arthur, Texas. A community and the name Vinton came from former Iowa professor Seaman Knapp, who bought a large plot of land from the U.S. government and built a community.
Vinton is a proud community that loves to celebrate. The Heritage Festival and Homecoming Parade are just some of the big celebrations in town.
