St. Louis, Missouri – "Gateway City"
St. Louis is famous for a Victorian past and multiple French and German influences. St. Louis claims to have the world's first skyscraper - the 10-story Wainwright Building is used by the State of Missouri as a government office building. The Gateway Arch, a famous landmark in St. Louis, was built in the mid-1960s. St. Louis was honored with the World Leadership Award for urban renewal in 2006 and is growing with several efforts to revitalize the downtown and midtown area currently in progress.
Living in St. Louis

St. Louis has a strong health care industry. St. Louis Children's Hospital and Barnes-Jewish Hospital benefit from a close relationship with Washington University School of Medicine. A leader in several areas of medical research, St. Louis University School of Medicine works with hospitals, including Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital and St. Louis University Hospital.
Entertainment in St. Louis
Corkball leagues are a unique feature of St. Louis sports. A “mini-basketball” game, in the 1900s it was played on the streets and alleys of St. Louis. The city has a reputation for being “Baseball City USA” and “a top-notch sports town”. The most famous team in the city is the St. Louis Cardinals, who have won 10 World Championships in Major League Baseball. St. Louis also offers several professional soccer teams, and professional Wrestling is also popular in St. Louis.

In downtown St. Louis, you'll find the Eugene Field House, which is dedicated to the famous children's author, Eugene Field. St. Louis hosted the 1904 World's Fair and the Missouri History Museum has programs and exhibits about the fair and also detailing Lewis and Clark's voyage. Broadway Series and concerts are presented at the Fox Theatre.
105 parks in the city contain playgrounds, gathering places, summer concerts, tennis courts, and lakes. The Missouri Botanical Garden includes a bountiful collection of flowering trees, plants, and shrubs.
The world-renowned St. Louis Symphony Orchestra has received six Grammy Awards. You can find great jazz, ragtime, and blues music in St. Louis. Many music artists began their careers in St. Louis, such as Ike Turner, Tina Turner, and Miles Davis.
