White Plains, NY

White Plains is well known in Westchester County for a vibrant bar scene. East Post Road and Mamaroneck Avenue offer several busy bars, including the Black Bear Saloon, Lazy Boy Tavern, and the Thirsty Turtle. However, the most popular reason for living in White Plains is the Metro North station, which can bring you to the heart of Manhattan by train in 35 minutes.

Yonkers, NY

Yonkers is the largest city in Westchester County. Home to several attractions, visitors and residents can enjoy the harness racing track, Yonkers Raceway, which has a recently renovated clubhouse and video slot machine gambling. Yonkers is divided up into four quarters, each with distinct differences.

Northeast Yonkers is a heavily Irish-American and Italian-American suburban area. Rental homes range from small houses clustered together to larger homes on extensive grounds. Lawrence Park and Cedar Knolls neighborhoods contain more upscale homes. Residents of these neighborhoods often commute to Manhattan.

Southeast Yonkers resembles more of the Bronx, Brooklyn, or Queens, with a strong Irish community. Midland Avenue has been called the “Little Italy” of Yonkers.

Southwest Yonkers offers turn-of-the-century mansions and upscale luxury rentals and condos. Several new luxury apartment buildings were built in the early 2000s near the Hudson River. Downtown Yonkers is undergoing a revitalization that is bringing new business and luxury housing.
