Northstar is a ski resort community in Truckee, near Lake Tahoe. Just across from the Nevada border, Northstar is on the lake's northern shore in the mountains. Homes for rent in Northstar are about 40 miles from Reno, Nevada, and 100 miles from Sacramento. Northstar is closest to Mount Pluto. Mount Watson, Sawtooth Ridge and Big Chief are also nearby. The closest beach is Kings Beach State Park, and Tahoe Vista is close as well. When most renters need groceries, home goods or a night out, they head to Truckee. Truckee is a suburban resort community with plenty of shops, bars and restaurants as well as an Amtrak station.
