Located less than 30 miles southeast of Minneapolis, the suburb of Rosemount may be best known for its strong Irish heritage. Some of the city's first residents were Irish immigrants, and their impact continues to be celebrated through the shamrock on the city's flag and the mascots of all of the local schools. Currently, Rosemount has about 23,000 residents, but that number is expected to more than double by 2030 as more people discover the charms and opportunities of the city.
In addition to offering access to the Twin Cities through four major highways, Rosemount features an 80-acre business park, more than 500 acres of land reserved for commercial and industrial use and has plans to redevelop its historic downtown area. The Waterford Downs development in the downtown district includes 108 rental units and 13,000 square feet of commercial space. Rosemount also holds the regional base of the National Guard. For students, Rosemount is home to Dakota County Technical College, which is one of the largest technical colleges in Minnesota.
Houses for rent in Rosemount offer play to accompany the work, too. The city's 23 parks cover 302 acres, and the Parks and Recreation department offers year-round activities for adults, youth, teens and seniors. Residents of Rosemount rental homes especially enjoy Rosemount Skate Park and the 270-acre Spring Lake Regional Park Preserve. Additionally, the Rosemount Community Center and Ice Arena includes a banquet room, auditorium, gymnasium and meeting rooms.
