Bohemia is a suburban community on Long Island. Just north of Oakdale and west of Bayport, Bohemia is a hamlet in the town of Islip. Homes for rent are mere minutes away from Nicoll Bay in Great South Bay near Fire Island to the south. Families can head to Heckscher State Park to go to the beach or stay in Bohemia and take advantage of the massive Bohemia County Park. The park is one of the largest undeveloped areas in the region, allowing families to explore the wooded terrain. The residential streets are filled with greenery and space between homes. There are several local businesses in the hamlet as well as an industrial park on the eastern border for a variety of industries, making for a very short commute for some families.
Bohemia is part of Islip, which has a rich multicultural history. Long Island was originally settled by the Algonquins before William Nicoll, for whom the bay is named, settled the area in 1683. He named his plantation Islip after his hometown in England. Since then, the borders of Islip and many of the communities in the region have shifted many times, but the area has long been known for its beauty and location near New York City.
Bohemia combines enormous natural resources with safe, residential streets and nearby workplaces. It's the perfect place for families looking to rent on Long Island.
