This city was developed in the early 1600s as it's located on the Naugatuck River. However, despite these early developments, the town wasn't officially incorporated until 1864.
Antonia's nickname is the "Copper City", as one of the largest industries for this city was manufacturing copper, brass, rubber and plastic. Aside from being known for its metal, the city was home to the Ansonia Clock Company.
Ansonia has a historical district where the settlers first put houses. Today visitors can go on a walking tour there.
